SECURE YOUR JAP MAPLE BY CLEAR STRING TO THE RAILING TO PREVENT IT FROM FALLING OVER. THANKS.
thank you
Useful and important information. A good summary of types of plant groups that all gardening enthusiasts must know. Appreciate your effort. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your kind feedback 💚☺️
Lots of very useful information, especially for the new gardener. Great video! 🪴👨🌾
Glad you think so, thank you very much for your kind comment 😊!
Nice explanation.Every time I watch your videos, I learn something new. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
That's very nice to hear, thank you ☺️🫶🏻
Cześć Dominika, I prefer to fertilize them as they seem to grow better and produce a lot more flowers and vines. My fertilizer was Miraclegro crystal 24-8-16.
Cześć ☺️! This video is quite old, back then I still followed what other, more experienced gardeners recommended for nasturtiums and while it worked, I later made my own experiment and those fertilized with high Potassium fertilizer grew and bloomed slightly better ☺️ But I think that even without fertilizer they also perform well!
@@17m2gardenGreat tip, I will try that this year with my 6 types of nasturtium.
You explain so well. Thank you.
Thank you 💚
Howdy, Dominika!👋 Great video!👍You broke the knowledge down so well.😃 You and your garden are so delightful!💕
Aww thanks so much friend 💖 Will be recording a full garden tour with some updates soon!
Thanks
Absolutely stunning 😍
Thank you 😊
This video was so extremely helpful. I have zero gardening/growing experience and all the videos I've found on this subject are just people talking at you. Having the visual examples in your video helps so much. For instance, visualizing how big of a pot you need based on the size of the root ball or explaining exactly how much water they need.
I really enjoy your videos ..They're so informative. Thank yoy for explaining how to use the fertilizer. I had no idea you have a video dedicated to that . I'll definitely watch it 😊 I forgot to add that I used both fertilizers today for the first time on my limelight hydrangea trees. 2 of them have flower buds so those are the ones I fertilized. I followed instructions on the bottles but now I know exactly when to use each thanks to your video
How safe is that type of plant pot? (In a breaking down/falling sense). Do you think they are better than the ones that face only one side of a railing? I'll start a balcony garden soon (currently binging your whole channel lol), and I want to place a bench next to the rail, and pots hanging on the outside, but the type you are using in this video looks safer. Problem would be them taking seating space from the bench, ugh.
Hi! I see your dilemma! I think a lot also depends on the type of railings you have. Technically they can't fall down because they have special clips underneath that hold them in place, but in practice these clips break off easily, so after a few seasons the planters start to wobble! Here you are not allowed to put pots outside the balcony at the risk of them falling down, but if it is allowed where you live, I would recommend traditional planters.
@@17m2garden got it, thank you so much for that insight!
Nice video,.,
Love your videos❤ keep up the exponentially amazing work ✨
☺️🙏🏻
Hi, great video as always! :D I would like to ask for your help regarding my Japanese maple orange dream :( since summer came it's not doing so well, its top leaves are scortched but I'm not sure if it' s due to too much sun(northeast facing balcony tho) or maybe due to wind... they are getting brown and crisp and I really hate the look of it :( do you know maybe what could be the cause and what can I do to fix it? Thank you so much!
Hi! I am sorry to hear it! I start to believe that this variety is just impossible to keep happy! Mine gets sun scorched too, even though my balcony, like yours, faces northeast... And you're right, it's also VERY susceptible to wind. It's been really windy here for the past few weeks and my Orange Dream literally shed like 60% of its perfectly healthy leaves...! I guess what this plant wants is no direct sunlight and total protection from the wind, a little too much sun, a light breeze and the leaves become immediately scorched 🙄
You would like ukigumo; white japanese maple! Needs lots of shade…💎
That's a lovely suggestion, thank you!
Thank you for all your videos, it makes me happy to watch them. 💚
Aww that's a pleasure to hear 💚!
Just beautiful!😍
I am enjoying your videos so much! I am gardening on a fourth floor long narrow balcony myself and learning a lot from you, even though I'm in Zone 10b. I would love to have a Japanese maple but they are so very expensive in my area. I need to know more about fertilizers so will look for that video.
Hi! That's really nice to hear 🥰! I think they are very expensive in general... I don't know if this trick will work where you live, but here they are often discounted by 30-50% in late autumn, when they have already lost their leaves. I bought both of my maples as very young trees at an autumn sale 4 years ago. You'll have to wait patiently for a few years until they put on some growth and look really lush, but I think it's worth it 🍁
Many thanks about waiting until fall to look for a Japanese maple on sale! I didn't know that.
Heuchera looks pretty and easy to care for. The same name in French? I will try one or two in the garden. I planted ten tomato seeds in my south facing window box. They all came up but only five survived. Throwing out the other five pots, I found two fat snails under the rectangular saucer. The window box is on the second floor of the house (le premier etage). I guess they were eggs in the dirt as I don't see how they could climb so high without snacking on the way. Enjoyed your other tips. Thanks.
Hi! I believe they call it "heuchère" here, Botanic always sells many beautiful ones around September! So sorry about your tomatoes, such a bummer! Let's hope the remaining 5 produce abundantly! Yeah, I guess you're right! I live on the 7th floor and I have a lot of snails, slugs and earthworms, there is no way they could climb up here on their own, we probably bring them with new plants and then they stay and live their best lives on the balcony 🙃.
Loved the video! Your tips for keeping various types of plants healthy were really helpful. Also, just wanted to mention that you seemed a little tired.Take care!
Awe that's very sweet of you, I'm okay no worries ☺️🫶🏻
Good day, amiga! 👋 What a fun informing time in the garden with you.👍 Thanks for the added knowledge.👩🏾🌾 Your rail planters are looking gooood! You have made such a sweet, beautiful place to relax and recharge.💕
Hi! My pleasure 🤗 yeah those Begonias in the railing planters are finally starting to put on some growth and produce first flower buds! Thanks for your sweet comment and for visiting my small garden 💚☺️
❤
💚
Very beautiful container garden!
Thank you 💚🌼
What a lovely Flowers Like 94 My friend thank you for good sharing. Have a good relationship 😊
Absolutely beautiful! What type of support did you set up to make sure they stay above the patio door? Thanks!
Thank you 🫶🏻 I use self-adhesive plant clips. You can find them on Amazon they are really inexpensive.
I pruned my big leaf hydrangea about 3 years ago, when we moved into our now home, before I understood what it was. It hasn't bloomed since. Will it ever bloom again? It does leaf out every year, just no big beautiful blooms.
So sorry to hear that! With proper maintenance it should re-bloom, pruning would only affect the current season's blooms. If it's grown in the ground make sure to give it a good dose of slow release fertilizer in the spring and then again in summer, and don't forget to water during dry spells. But if it doesn't bloom despite all your efforts it might be a good idea to replace it with a new, perhaps more reliable variety.
10degrees celcius at night and less than 20-23 degrees celcius daytime is our winter temperature in june in Mauritius! Good to know , i learn a lot from you, thank you !
Excellent video🌹🌹
Thank you 🫶🏻
It’s a beautiful wooden vertical planter that you got the ones I’m talking about are in food grade plastic and it doesn’t really take up a lot of space either. I think it could fit easily on your little area because it’s round and it rotates around.
Oh yes I know what you mean, I've seen those, they seem like another great option for growing veggies vertically ☺️🥬
I think for the amount of space you have you have managed to maximize as much as possible. The only thing I could say is go vertical. I have seven green stocks in my garden and you can plant a lot in those green stocks plus they can rotate around and make sure everything gets enough sun also easy to water and take care. you can go check out my channel and see if you can find any of these videos but to make it easier for you. Go check out next Saturday and I will do a video on one of my green stocks and show you how they turn around and how tall they are and I have never had any of them fall over and I live in an area where we have a lot of wind now I do try to keep them not too tall. You can make them stack even higher than what I have. But I will show you in the video next Saturday the tallest one I have that has never fallen over during a major windstorm and my patio of furniture falls over all the time and I’ve had my patio roof come off so we get some really bad.
Hola amiga!👋 Loads of fun with you in your enchanting garden today!😃 Your planter is so full of goodness! Great fall crops. In the south, we also cook our turnip tops...I often combine them with collard greens.😋 I hope you get to enjoy lots of delish radishes.💕
Picturesque balcony garden ♥️ Beautiful. From Australia x
TYSM 😊 💚
Lovely edibles. After planting, vertical planter looks more neat, tidy and organized. Thank you for the videoCute T shirt
Thank you, glad you think so ☺️!
So many interesting goodies! If I would have more place , I would sure try lettuce and many other vegetables/ herbs. Your lily is a tree, very beautiful everything, My little japanese maple has a few new leaves, I am happy they are a little more red than the old ones, but my dahlias have are not healthy. I think the experiment if they form a bulb until autumn will fail. 💚
Ohhh I'm so sorry about your Dahlias! Mine are doing well so far, but I planted tubers directly. That's what I love about gardening, even though some things don't work out, there is always something else that makes you happy like your Japanese maple 😍🙌🏻
@@17m2garden Exactly 🥀🌻🌲🌳🌴
Beautiful vertical planter and balcony garden, They are the bees knees.
I love yours videos lol not a balcony gardener but I still love your content your accent is beautiful where are you from 😄
Aww haha, well that's a pleasure to hear ☺️! I'm of Polish origin but living and gardening in France.
Thank you for posting this. I garden in raised beds and my orientation with the sun is not in any due direction. I have been trying to find the video talking about pinecones as mulch but cannot, could you direct me to it?
Hi! I'm happy you found it helpful! I don't have a specific video on pinecones but on mulching potted plants in general. If you head over to my channel's main page and click playlists, you can find that video on the "Balcony Gardening For Beginners" playlist.
Love the dahlias!
Thank you for the info
This is a question. I recently moved from my home with a large patio (and water!) to a fourth floor apartment with a tiny balcony and no water faucet. It turns out my balcony is very dusy and the leaves of my beautiful camellias and other plants are always dirty. I have bathed them leaf by leaf with a wet cloth but they are soon dusty again. How can I keep my plant's leaves shiny and healthy?
Beautiful
Beautiful planter. Great idea!
It seems like a logical approach to plant vertically. It looks great on your balcony ☺ One question though, does the planter have any kind of feet to elevate it from the floor, just tiny feet so it doesn't sit in moisture? (I might have missed it, sorry)
Thank you, I'm glad you think so! You're right! It stands directly on the floor, fortunately the bottom of the last pot is raised a few cm above the ground. I hope this will not be that big of a problem on a concrete floor 🤞🏻☺️ it would probably be worse if it was standing directly on the ground in the garden.
Awesome vertical planter
Thanks 😃 I think it's gonna be a game changer 🌿🥬!
Looking forward to see them planted in the new home. Useful acquisition!💚
I'm working on it ☺️ and glad you think so too! Can't wait to grow more veggies in it 💚
